ROOM TOUR | UNI STUDENT ACCOMMODATION

Before I got to uni I LOVED reading student accommodation room tours. I honestly think I might have read a 100 different room-tour posts. So now that I’m approaching the end of my first year at uni it only seems appropriate to share some pics of my own room.

A little practical info

  • I live in on campus student accommodation.
  • I share a flat with 13 other students who all studies different courses than myself.
  • I have a single-person bedroom, which means I do not have a roomie.
  • I share a kitchen and 2 bathrooms with my 13 flatmates.
  • I have sink in my room.
  • My accommodation is non-catered.

My very tiny bed, which luckily came with lots of under-the-bed storage. I use the draws for towels, bedding and food (like canned food, pasta etc.) since our kitchen storage space is pretty limited.

Tips

  • Buy all white bedding – it makes it soooo much easier to remember to change/wash it regularly.
  • Make sure you have double up of all bedding and towels in case you can’t quite be bothered going to the laundry mat.
  • Buy a large pillow to lean up against if you’re having out in your bed, since you bed most likely won’t have a headboard.

I’m using the storage space under the sink for all my shoes, as well as cleaning things (like washing-up liquid, laundry detergent etc.)

The next two pictures are from my wardrobe (and yes I colour coordinate my clothes). Next to the drawers are my suitcase and yoga mat.

Tip

  • If your wardrobe is only made to hang clothes, buying some plastic drawers are great for storing gym clothes, underwear etc. I bough two sets of drawers so I also have one for underneath my desk. Generally, I would just recommend to get as much extra storage as you possibly can.

Where I got my stuff

The plastic drawers are from Morrisons. The hangers are from Primark.

Anyone who follows me on Instagram knows that I have a tiny obsession with plants, and especially when you live in a tiny (and very generic) student room, I find that plants just make everything a little more homie.

Where I got my stuff

All the plants are from Bo-tanical Norwich. The small teacups are from second hand stores. The larger blue cups are from Tiger. The large pots are from Wilko.

Lucky my room have it’s own sink, which allows me to do some basic grooming and stuff in my own room. This comes in super handy when you’re sharing bathrooms with 13 other people.

Where I got my stuff

The glass I’m using for my toothbrush is from John Lewis. The little ‘basket’ for my small things are from Primark.

Small glimpses from around the room.

Tip

  • Find a shelf or two and keep all your notes and books there. It may seem obvious, but in the beginning of the year my notes where spread everywhere across my room, and it became seriously confusing in the long run.

Where I got my stuff

The cute little pictures are from an a small art fair. The vase I use for my pencils are from Morrisons. The packpack is from Gaston Luga. The little colourful purse is from a market in Thailand.

At the right side of my desk I have a huge tray full of different teas (and of course some almonds – the best study snack). Not only do I actually need to store this somewhere, but it also makes the room a little more cozy.

Where I got my stuff

The silver tray is from a flea market. The sloth tea cup is from Urban Outfitters. The larger tea cup is from a little shop in Switzerland. The two picture frames are from Tiger.

Another shot of my beloved plants.

Tip

  • Get a rug! I really recommend this as it is so quick to throw it in the wash, and ultimately makes it so much easier to keep the room clean. Especially if your room, like mine, is carpeted.

Where I got my stuff

The rug is from Tiger. The plants are form Bo-tanical.
