The airport is run by humans
Although the airport is accustomed to having hundreds of thousands of people pass through it every day it is still run by humans, and as much as we don’t like to admit it, we do make mistakes from time to time. It can therefore be a good idea to pack valuable items in your carry on. Whether it is expensive items, fragile items, or just items with sentimental value that you would’t be able to replace, it is always a comfort to know that you have the item with you, and that if anything does happen to your luggage, the item will not be lost.
Weight limits matter
I always tend to think that it doesn’t matter if I just squeeze a little extra items into my luggage, because the people in the airport aren’t that strict with the regulations are they? Of course this does depend on which airline you travel with, but for most parts I would say YES they are that strict with the regulations. It is therefore a good idea to pack heavy items such as books in you carry on, as your carry on are usually not weight.
You will most likely do some shopping
It can be tempting to fill your suitcase from home with all sorts of cute outfits, however, chances are that you will be shopping on your vacation, and whether you go for a shopping spree in a shoe store, a farmers market or a souvenir boutique, the things you buy will need to be transported home. So unless you are planning on buying an extra suitcase on your travel, remember to leave room in your luggage for future purchases.
I am pretty sure I have mentioned this in a million other blog posts, but now you have it again; rolling your clothes is by far the most effective way of packing and I will advise it to anyone who are traveling for a long time in a small suitcase. Or for a short time with a lot of clothes, if you are anything like me.
You won’t be going anywhere half naked
The pants you just bought last week might be super cute, but unless you are packing a shirt that fits with them, there is no way they will actually be worn unless you are okay with leaving your hotelroom half naked. In other words, don’t pack clothes, pack outfits, and also make sure to have a going-home outfit in case you are traveling somewhere with a vastly different weather than what you are going home to.
