Where am I going?
First thing to consider when traveling, is where are you going. If you for example are going to a very religious country it might not be a good idea to only bring hot pants, and if you are going somewhere with a lot of mountains you might benefit from bringing a pair of sneakers.
What will the weather be there?
This one seems obvious. If you are going somewhere cold you might want to steer away from the spagetti strap sundresses, and if you are going to Thailand, UGG’s probably is not the best choice of footwear.
What am I going to be doing?
While packing you cutest items might seem like a good idea, considering what you will be doing on your vacation is probably an even better one. If you for example are going to be walking a lot, make sure to bring comfy shoes, and if you are going skiing bringing an extra sweater would most likely be a good idea.
How long am I going to be gone?
Overpacking sucks. You get to carry around a lot of stuff that have absolutely no purpose at all, however thinking that you do not need the amount of clothes you really do need will also leave you in a bit of a scrape. Instead keep in mind how long you will be gone while packing, and if need be even match the number of days with the number of outfits.
What goes together?
Put you outfits together. I cannot say it enough. Not only will this help you save room in your suitcase, but also save time when you are packing, AND after you have arrived. This is generally just the best favour you can do for yourself when packing for a vacation.
